全葉卷雪茄分為兩種：手工卷制的全葉卷雪茄和機器卷制的全葉卷雪茄。手工卷制的全葉卷雪茄外包皮筋明顯，每支煙外觀區別較大，粗細也有一定的差別；而機器卷制的全葉卷雪茄煙外觀平整、光滑、粗細均勻一致及外包皮較薄，總體上比全手工卷制的雪茄整潔、美觀。但上等的雪茄是不能用機器卷制的，好的雪茄在幾百道生產工序作業中，不能受到任何的污染。機械操作過程中產生的味道及油污，會對雪茄的香氣和余味影響極大。

二、好雪茄煙芯是片狀的煙葉組合

全手工制作的上等雪茄煙芯必須是片狀的。煙芯如果用機械切成絲后，煙葉的纖維組織及化學成分會有較大的變化，降低了煙葉原來的品質。所以上等雪茄的煙芯是手工制作而成，人工將煙葉撕成 8-15 毫米大小的葉片。

三、好雪茄茄衣是有彈性且不硬，無硬點

雪茄填煙葉要適當，一支好雪茄應當有一定的質感，在感覺上有些像你的手指，觸摸起來有彈性而不硬，也不像海綿般松軟。一支好雪茄從頭到尾撫摸時應感覺堅固一致，不應有松軟的地方（缺少煙草而形成空地），也不應有硬點或斑點（意味著那兒有壓縮或卷曲的煙草），否則會影響整個雪茄的通氣狀況。

四、好的雪茄味道是有苦有甜
